Merry Christmas to you all! A flight brought nephew home from Iraq last night, we meet him at the airport. So glad he is here to see his son enjoy his first Christmas. The reindeer were fed well. Waiting for everyone to wake up and see what Ole Santa brought.
Wishing you and your families a happy holiday.

The camera has been found!
The first photo is my table setting for Pokeno. Everyone got to take a rolypoly Santa home with them. I think this setup will change for supper with the inlaws. This picture is of my mantle this year. I think I'll repeat this setup. It makes me smile when I look at it. And it is awesome when all the lights except the tree are out.
My snowman collection, not all of them. Maybe next year all of them will be out.
Have a great day. I'm off to finish my shopping!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
I've been thinking all week long how blessed I am.
Our family is healthy. No major illnesses to deal with.
I have my family close me (son is moving back to MS soon) with the exception of a nephew in Iraq. We are lucky to hear from him quite often.
Hubby and I both have long relationships with our respective jobs and feel like we can be there as long as we'd choose to be.
I am extremely proud of my kids. They have grown into great young adults.
My church family is so special to me, they are always there for us with hugs or kind words.
I can't think of one thing to complain about this morning
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

I made the threee onesies for my niece's baby shower a few months back. The big tshirt was for her brother to wear during the shower. He was a great helper, handing out game sheets and prizes. The onesies were really easy to make with my inkjet printer.
Gratitude of the day: I am grateful for my mom and dad who I live close to and work with everyday.

We got started on the studio this past weekend. Cleared the space and started placing the base. We hadn't finished the base of the main room when I took the photo, hence the funny shape. I'll get a lot of natural light in this spot. I can't wait for it to be finished. It will take a while since we only work on it in our spare time. But it's started so we're committed now.
Here is another painting, again this was done in acrylics. Sorry for the flash hotspot. I'm still learning to photograph.

How about a papier mache pear? I have discovered if I take my art out on the back porch at night, the pictures come out so much better than the shots I take in the house. Still not a great photo but getting better. I love getting yucky while doing papier mache, I can stop thinking about work, money and all the stressful stuff that comes along with life. Just play in the squishy goop and play at making something nice and pretty. Pears have been a recurring theme these days. I really like their shape and color.

School starts today! Where did summer vacation go? It seems to me kids don't have as long a break as we had when I was a kid. DD and I did get away to visit DS and his China Doll. School shopping was an experience for DD, she'd never heard of a tax free weekend. She saved quite a few bucks. We even ran over to Six Flags Atlanta, nice park but the lines were very long, but the kids had a great time. Work is slowing down so maybe I can keep up with this blog.
Savanah is coming along nicely, I still need to work on her face shape and arms. Any advice on a paint technique to make her look like carve wood?
I've also been making those cones folks hang on the front door to hold flower arrangements. These are made from reclaimed metal plates used on our printing presses.

Here is just a sample of the awesome photographs my friend and photographer, Renee' Churchill takes. She took my daughter all over downtown getting shots in several different locations. This is one camera shy girl but Renee' made her look like she loved having her picture made. There is a link on the left to Renee's blog, check her out.

Life has been really hectic lately but here is a fun one I did a few weeks ago. Let me know what you think.
I have tried a couple of new things lately. Accupuncture being one of them. Very relaxing. I was really nervous the first time but it is not the painful experience you worry about. You can feel the needles going in but it's not anything like the feeling of a shot needle. If you get a chance and wanna have a ME day, call up Jerusha DeGroote and make an appointment. She's great!!

This little guy was drawn for a local storm shelter company. He even has his own website: http://www.gopherholeshelters.com/
He began as a line drawing, colored in photoshop, and composed in InDesign CS2. His brochure was printed on a 2 color Shinohara press.

For the entire month of February, I have my artwork in the display cabinet at my local library. I have a lot to learn about displaying artwork but I'm pretty pleased with how it looks.
I want to use this blog as a place to put my artwork for show to family and friends.
This piece, acrylic on canvas, was so much fun to do.
